Tbilisi Denies Accusations over Destabilization Attempts in Abkhazia

On September 30 Georgian officials denied accusations made by the Abkhaz de facto Security Ministry over the mobilizing of Georgian troops on the border of the breakaway region on the eve of the forthcoming presidential elections there.

As the Georgian Defense Ministry reports, the Abkhaz de facto authorities have numerously accused Tbilisi of organizing sabotages in the region. ?No additional troops have been mobilized in the Kodori gorge [the only territory in breakaway Abkhazia under the control of the Georgian authorities],? a Georgian Defense Ministry official told Civil Georgia.

The presidential elections in breakaway Abkhazia are scheduled for October 3.
