Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the unrecognized Abkhazian Republic said that more than 50% of voters cast a ballot during the October 3 presidential elections in the breakaway region.
Hence the elections can be considered as valid, chief of the CEC Sergei Smir added at a news briefing in the capital, Sokhumi.
He also said that the elections were held without ?any serious violations.? Early official results of the elections will be known by midnight.
