Georgia will be among the issues discussed at the two-day EU-Russia summit in the Siberian town of Khanty-Mansiysk starting on June 26.
“The Summit will see the launch of negotiations for the new EU-Russia Agreement. In addition to EU-Russia relations, a number of international issues of common interest will also be discussed, in particular Iran and the Middle East, as well the situation in Georgia and Moldova,” EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana’s press office said in a statement.
Speaking at a joint news conference with President Saakashvili in Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she would ensure the Georgian issue was raised with Moscow at the EU-Russia summit.
