The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will announce its judgment on Tuesday, July 8, on the Labor Party v. Georgia case, the Strasbourg-based court said on Friday.
In its case against Georgia in the ECHR, the Labor Party has demanded EUR 2 billion in compensation for non-pecuniary damages for allegedly “being expelled” from Parliament as a result of electoral irregularities in the March 28, 2004 elections.
Also on July 8, the ECHR will announce its judgment on another case against Georgia filed by Koba Gigolashvili, a Georgian citizen who was arrested in December, 2003 and charged with robbery and murder. The case concerns the applicant’s complaint about the unlawfulness of his pre-trial detention since 5 May 2004, claiming that his right to liberty and security had been infringed.
