The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) said it was concern about the firing of shots on January 27 in the vicinity of one of its patrols close to the Georgian police checkpoint at the village of Odzisi, close to the South Ossetian administrative border.
“This incident is totally unacceptable. Our monitors are unarmed and entitled to carry out their patrols unhindered.” head of EUMM, Hansjörg Haber, said in a statement. “This is a breach of the Sarkozy-Medvedev Agreements which ban the use of force by all sides. We urge all sides to restrain from further provocations.”
