The City Court in Kutaisi released two activists of Bidzina Ivanishvili-led Georgian Dream opposition coalition on GEL 3,000 bail each on June 9, a day after the same court sent three other activists to pre-trial detention.
All five face voter bribery charges into ‘dream flyers vote-buying’ case.
Senior figures from the Georgian Dream coalition, who attended the court hearing in Kutaisi, said that charges against two activists, Koba Jabua and Nino Kurua, who were granted bail, were fabricated by the authorities with the use of “provocateur agents.”
The Georgian Dream said recent series of questioning and arrests of the opposition coalition’s activists in Kutaisi was part of the authorities’ “intimidation” campaign ahead of Georgian Dream’s planned campaign rally in Kutaisi on June 10.
