The European Commission report on Georgia’s visa liberalisation to be released on December 18 will be “positive” that should pave the way for lifting visa requirements for the Georgian citizens in the Schengen area, PM Irakli Garibashvili said
“Today is a very important day,” the PM said at a government session on Friday morning.
“Late last evening I had a conversation with [officials] in the EU… and today the final report will be published with positive conclusions on Georgia, so I congratulate you,” he said.
“It was a very laborious work; we have fulfilled with 100 percent all the commitments undertaken before the EU; we have left not a single question mark – that’s very important that we’ve done everything scrupulously with 100 percent,” he said.
“I congratulate the Georgian people. This is a victory of the Georgian people… and of the country. This is a significant step forward for strengthening of our country and most importantly this is reiteration of EU’s confidence towards the Georgian people,” the PM said and thanked the government and other state agencies for “tireless and hard work”, which, he said, made it possible for Georgia to fulfill all the requirements of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
