Defense Minister to Attend NATO-Georgia Commission

Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria traveled to Brussels to attend the NATO-Georgia Commission, to be held as part of the NATO Defense Ministerial.

NATO Defense Ministers will gather on February 15-16 to address the Alliance’s response “to a more challenging security environment,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at his press briefing on February 14.

Defense Ministers will also focus on the fight against terrorism, and threats stemming from the Middle East and North Africa, according to NATO Secretary General.

Stoltenberg added that the Ministerial will conclude with a meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission on February 16, where the sides “will discuss the security situation in the region and Georgia’s reforms, which are bringing the country closer to NATO.”

Izoria will also hold bilateral meetings with Jens Stoltenberg and Kenneth B. Handelman, acting Assistant U.S. Secretary of Defense, as well as his Turkish, British and Latvian counterparts.
