(Tbilisi, February 25, Civil Georgia) – Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office investigates death of National Security Council Nugzar Sajaia.
Deputy General Prosecutor Badri Bitsadze stated that the case is initiated for “bringing to the point of suicide” (Criminal Code of Georgia, article 115).
Nugzar Sajaia was found shot in his cabinet on February 25.
Recently MP Boris Kakubava accused Nugzar Sajaia in attempt to mastermind assassination of Head of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The suicide is thought to be related to the accusation.
“Bringing to the point of suicide or attempted suicide by intimidation or violent treatment or by systematically abusing the honor of the victim – shell be punished by up to three years of restriction of freedom or by imprisonment up to five years in length,” Georgian criminal code states.
