Government Wants to Suspend Moratorium on Nonferrous Metals’ Exports

(Tbilisi, June 6, Civil Georgia) – Finance Ministry urges the Parliament to suspend moratorium on exports of nonferrous metals from Georgia.

At the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Issues and Legitimacy on June 6 representatives of the Finance Ministry stated that suspension of the moratorium on export of metals is one of the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund.

The government claims that cases of metals’ illegal export still occurs despite of the moratorium, so it will be better if the export of nonferrous metals will be regulated. 

At the Parliamentary session on May 18 rejected to discuss the draft law on regulations of the export of the nonferrous metals from Georgia.
