(Tbilisi, June 6, Civil Georgia) – Central Election Commission (CEC) failed to take decision on June 6 concerning the procedure of votes’ recounting of Tbilisi constituencies.
According to the CEC’s previous decision votes should be recounted because of the numerous procedural violations during the local elections on June 2.
According to the CEC’s procedures the commission should cancel the decision on votes’ recounting.
Earlier today members of the CEC said that because of the votes’ recounting the final results would be known by the June 12. According to the law the final results should have been announced on June 6. But this is not done so far.
8 leading political parties demanded to recount the votes in Tbilisi. Only the Labors Party of Georgia, which according to the CEC’s preliminary results leads the locals, was against of the recount.
