President Hails Candidate for the Post of Georgia’s Envoy to the UN

(Tbilisi, June 17, Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze stated in his traditional Monday radiobroadcast on June 17 that Revaz Adamia, member of the opposition Parliamentary faction the Democrats as the “less politicized person.”

Georgian President nominated Zurab Zhvania’s supporter Revaz Adamia on the post of the Georgian representative to the United Nations.

Shevardnadze said that he never “doubted concerning Adamia’s patriotism, he was an excellent Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security”.  
Former Georgian representative to the UN Petre Chkheidze was appointed on the post of the Georgian ambassador to Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The Parliament is to discuss Revaz Adamia’s candidature at the session on June 19.
