(Tbilisi, June 20, Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze phoned the Chairman of the Eropean Commission Romano Prodi and expressed his concern with the abduction of British citizen Peter Shaw. Georgia’s problems “were met with understanding,” President says.
President Shevardnazdze warned the Ministers for Interior Affairs and Security that they would lose their positions if Shaw is not found in the nearest future.
Georgian investigators work on several versions. According to one version, abduction of the foreign national is related to his business activities.
Peter Shaw was abducted two days ago in front of his house in Tbilisi on the eve of his departure from Georgia after 6-year posting. Shaw was the director of EU-sponsored Agro Business Bank.
