Russia Wants 11 Years for the Bases’ Pull Out from Georgia

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 26, 2002) – Russian side has reduced the period of withdrawal of its military bases from Batumi, Adjara and Akhalkalaki, southern Georgia.

Kakha Sikharulidze, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia stated at the news briefing today that at the talks in Moscow concerning the military bases, Russia proposed the Georgian side to withdraw its bases within the 11 years in stand of 14 years as Russia demanded before. 

MFA official said that the Georgian side still demands the bases to be pulled out within the 3 years.
