(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, December 11, 2002) – Authorities of the unrecognized Abkhazian Republic are against of Ukraine’s involvement in the peacekeeping operation run under the CIS auspices in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone.
Russian media sources report quoting de facto Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Sergei Shamba, that the Abkhaz side is fully satisfied with the Russian peacekeepers. The Russian soldiers compose the CIS peacekeeping forces.
Georgia wants the internationalization of the peacekeeping troops and Ukraine’s involvement in the operation. The issue might be discussed during the visit of the Ukrainian President in Georgia in December.
