Director of the Soros Foundation’s Open Society Institute Tbilisi office Davit Darchiashvili and two other colleagues were detained by local security forces in the breakaway South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali on July 15.
All of them were released after six hours of interrogation by South Ossetian law enforcers.
?We were visiting Tskhinvali to meet local NGO representatives, but the meeting failed to take place when our colleagues did not appear at the meeting. The South Ossetian side was informed in advance regarding our plans to visit Tskhinvali, but despite this we were still held for several hours,? Davit Darchiashvili told reporters after the release.
