Parliamentary elections in Abkhazia are valid as 29.25% of voters cast their ballots five hours before the closure of polling stations, the breakaway regions Central Election Commission (CEC) said.
There is a 25% minimum voter turnout required for a valid election.
Chairman of the breakaway region’s CEC said that voting was ongoing in calm and normal conditions, Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported.
Elections in the breakaway region are denounced as illegitimate by Tbilisi and the international community, except of Russia and few other countries, which have recognized Abkhazia.
