Foreign Leaders Take To Twitter To Congratulate Georgia With Centennial Anniversary

Diplomats and officials from across the world took to twitter to congratulate Georgia with its centennial anniversary of restoration of statehood.

The United Kingdom, Queen Elisabeth II: “It gives me great pleasure to send to Your Excellency [President Giorgi Margvelashvili] my congratulations on the celebration of your National Day, particularly in the year in which Georgia celebrates the centenary of the establishment of the first Georgian Democratic Republic, together with my best wishes for the good fortune and happiness of the people of Georgia in the coming year. At this time I reflect on the close historic ties between our countries, and look forward to our ongoing friendship and cooperation.”

Up to 20 high-level delegations visited Georgia for centennial celebrations, including the Presidents of Armenia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and the European Commission, as well as the Parliament Speakers of Estonia, Moldova and Ukraine.

On May 25,  U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo congratulated the country on the occasion, saying Georgia had made “impressive progress in building its economy and its democracy” over the past 27 years.
