Georgia’s Foreign Ministry denied Tehran’s claims that several Iranian women were mistreated on religious grounds by the security police of Tbilisi International Airport.
In a statement on August 17, a day after Iran’s Foreign Ministry slammed the Georgian authorities for their “disrespect” of Islamic hijab, the Georgian MFA said it conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter, but found “no evidence of wrongdoing, including actions insulting religious feelings.”
The Ministry said that it had already reported the findings to the Iranian side. The inquiry results will also be communicated to the Iranian ambassador in Tbilisi, the MFA also noted.
