Exit polls commissioned by Rustavi 2 and Imedi TV show the ruling party-backed presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili winning the Presidential runoff.
According to the Rustavi 2 exit poll (as of 17:00), conducted by Edison Research, Salome Zurabishvili obtained 55% of the votes, while UNM-led coalition’s Grigol Vashadze got 45%.
Zurabishvili wins by a bigger margin in the Imedi poll, carried out by Gallup International (as of 18:00). Here, the ruling party-endorsed candidate has 58%, while Vashadze has 42%.
If these exit polls are confirmed by official results, it means Salome Zurabishvili will become the country’s fifth president.
