Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, who visited Lisbon on April 21-22, met with his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva, and pledge to deepen ties.
On April 22, the two FMs discussed the ways for enhancing cooperation on circular migration. Georgian Foreign Ministry said, the two ministers also discussed ways to support temporary legal employment as well.
Minister Zalkaliani believes, that apart from regulating migration, this would also give opportunity to Georgian professionals to find jobs and build their skills abroad.
The meeting was followed by joint press briefing, with two foreign ministers signing an agreement on tourism cooperation.

In his remarks, Minister Silva said Georgia and Portugal are “very friendly countries” and that the two have “excellent relationship in diplomatic and political terms.” “Signing this agreement on cooperation on tourism is a very important step in order to improve our economic relationship,” he said.
The Portuguese FM also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the country’s European Union and NATO aspirations.
On his part, Minister Zalkaliani said, the two countries “enjoy close political, economic, cultural and educational relations as well as exemplary relations on international level.”
“We share common vision on Europe, evolving in peace, stability and prosperity, and in this respect, Portugal is a trustful partner of Georgia in the international fora,” Zalkaliani said.
Yesterday, Minister Zalkaliani met also the Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Francisco Ribeiro Telles.
