Levan Kakava, former Deputy Interior Minister, has been appointed as the new Head of Revenue Service, replacing Vakhtang Lashkarashvili.
Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani introduced the new head to the staff on November 21, saying Kakava’s appointment was agreed with the Prime Minister.
At the meeting with the employees of the Finance Ministry’s agencies last week, PM Giorgi Gakharia criticized the Revenue Service and its Customs Department, saying that the former will no longer be forgiven its mistakes and “the limit is over.”
Levan Kakava served as the Deputy Interior Minister since November 2017. Earlier, he was deputy head of the Revenue Service. Previously, he held various positions at the Finance Ministry’s Investigative Service.
