Tomorrow, on January 28, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili will address the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which is held in Strasbourg on January 27-31.
In her address, President Zurabishvili will speak of current developments in Georgia, including the human rights situation in its Russia-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia.
Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, who will address the Assembly later today as the Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), will speak of the priorities of the Georgian Presidency.
Honor to address the @PACE_News today. It’s is a great opportunity to accentuate shortly what Georgian Presidency would like to bring to t/agenda through our priorities. My country is proud to hold the presidency of @coe for the first time since joining the Organisation.

According to Minister Zalkaliani, he will have an opportunity to make remarks about the occupied regions “from the national position” as well. “However, I am limited with this organization’s statute as a chair country to cover the situation in occupied regions more widely,” FM Zalkaliani said.
He then noted that, nevertheless, the Georgian President will speak “from the national position” on the “grave humanitarian situation” in occupied regions, including the recent challenges in Akhalgori municipality, amid crossing point closure in her tomorrow’s address.
