Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili will be appointed as Georgian Ambassador to Austria. She will also serve as Georgia’s representative to Vienna-based international organizations.

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili was appointed as the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality in August 2016. Earlier in 2012-2016, she served as the deputy minister at the same body.

Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani announced at a news briefing on May 22 that Tsikhelashvili’s experience would be “extremely important,” as she had constantly dealt with the issues, including conflicts, that are actively discussed by OSCE and other international organizations based in the Austrian capital.

Zalkaliani said Tsikhelashvili will assume office from June 15. Commenting on who will replace Tsikhelashvili on her previous position, the Foreign Minister said that it was “up to the Prime Minister” to decide.

Speaking about her new appointment, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili said that her new mandate is “very honorable, responsible and inclusive.” She also added that she will continue carrying out her duties as the State Minister until June 15.

“We are going to kick off a very active campaign along the dividing lines to help our population, especially as Russian occupying forces do not stop borderization amid COVID-19,” she said.

Today it also became known that Aleksandre Maisuradze and Viktor Dolidze will swap their positions as envoys to NATO (in Brussels) and Geneva-based UN agencies and other international organizations, respectively.
