490 MP candidates, among them 120 women, will contest 30 single-mandate majoritarian constituencies in Georgia’s October 31 Parliamentary Elections.

According to the recently passed constitutional amendments, Georgians will elect 120 lawmakers (instead of 77) through proportional party lists and 30 MPs (instead of 73) as majoritarians.

A majoritarian candidate needs to garner over 50% of votes to claim victory. In case no candidate secures more than half of the votes, the second round will be held. The candidate with the best result will be declared the winner in the runoffs.

The ruling party of Georgian Dream candidates will contest in all thirty majoritarian constituencies. In the vast majority of regional constituencies, the opposition National Movement, European Georgia and Lelo have also nominated their candidates. Major opposition parties agreed to run joint candidates in Tbilisi’s eight majoritarian districts, with Isani being the exception after the United National Movement party put forward its candidate despite endorsing Strategy Aghmashenebeli’s Vashadze in the district earlier.
