At its December 18 session the Borjomi Municipality Assembly (Sakrebulo) terminated the powers of Levan Lipartia and Giorgi Gogichaishvili, Mayor and Chairman of Sakrebulo, respectively, after the Tbilisi City Court ruled seven year sentence for the two over corruption.
The Court confirmed to Civil.ge that a plea bargain was struck with both defendants, sentencing them to two years in the prison and five years of probation.
Lipartia and Gogichaishvili were arrested on February 29 by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Georgian State Security Service over demanding bribes from local entrepreneurs.
