Abkhaz authorities reported 111 new cases of COVID-19 in the occupied region, that brought the tally of the total confirmed cases to 25,199. No new patients have recovered, and the number of recoveries remains at 21,165. Two more deaths brought the number of COVID-related fatalities in the region to 380.

11:00 GMT+4 — 393,764 persons fully vaccinated

According to NCDC Georgia, 790,542 people have received at least one jab of vaccine against COVID-19 since the vaccine rollout in mid-March, including 393,764 persons that are now fully vaccinated. 25,670 jabs were administered yesterday.

10:55 GMT+4 — Regional Breakdown of New Cases

Out of 4,778 new cases registered in the past 24 hours, 1,888 were reported in Tbilisi, the capital city. In the regions,  the highest number of new infections – 608 – were reported in Imereti, followed by the eastern Kakheti region with 438 new cases. As for the remaining provinces: Adjara – 423, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 405, Shida Kartli – 364, Kvemo Kartli – 244, Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 159, Guria – 146, Samtskhe-Javakheti – 67, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 36.

Georgia has reported 4,778 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of the total confirmed cases to 549,811. In the meantime, 4,753 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 493,414. The number of COVID-related fatalities rose by 79 to  7,408. There are currently 48,963 active cases in the country (excluding the occupied regions).

23:00 GMT+4 — Total Cases Surpass 25 Thousand in Abkhazia

Abkhaz authorities reported 136 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of the total confirmed cases in the occupied region to 25,088. In the meantime, 399 more patients have recovered, taking the number of recoveries 21,165. The number of COVID-related fatalities rose by 6 to 378.

11:00 GMT+4 — 383,454 Persons Fully Vaccinated

According to NCDC Georgia, 780,948 persons have received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, among them are 383,454 that are fully vaccinated with two jabs. This means 13.4% of adult population are now fully vaccinated, it said. 17,670 jabs were administered yesterday.

According to NCDC Georgia, 771,055 people have received at least one jab of vaccine against COVID-19 since the vaccine rollout in mid-March, including 374,870 persons that are now fully vaccinated. 20,678 jabs were administered yesterday.

According to NCDC Georgia, 760,899 persons in Georgia received at least one dose of COVID vaccine. Among them 361,310 persons are fully vaccinated with two jabs. 26,734 people received their vaccine shots, either first or the second dose, yesterday.

Kremlin-backed authorities in Abkhazia reported 120 new cases of COVID-19. The tally of total confirmed cases now stands at 24,310. In the meantime, 132 more patients have recovered, increasing the overall number of recoveries from virus to 19,608. COVID death toll remains at 360.

NCDC Georgia has reported that as of this morning 661,788 persons have received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19, among them are 276,917 people that have received full vaccination. Record high 28,555 jabs were administered yesterday.

Georgia has reported 4,901 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of the total confirmed cases to 510,941. In the meantime, 2,586 persons have recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 442,956. The authorities reported 74 new COVID-related deaths, highest-ever daily deaths since the onset of the pandemic. COVID death toll in Georgia (excluding occupied territories) stands at 6,723.

Currently, 61,236 people are infected with COVID, the highest ever figure since the pandemic outbreak.

23:00 GMT+4 — Abkhazia’s COVID Death Toll Reaches 360

Kremlin-backed authorities in Abkhazia have confirmed 123 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of total confirmed cases to 24,190. In the meantime, 68 more patients have recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 19,476. The Abkhaz authorities also reported three new COVID-related deaths, taking the death toll since the onset of the pandemic to 360.

16:00 GMT+4 — Public Service Halls, Community Centers to Book Vaccine Appointments

Persons willing to book vaccine appointments are now able to approach public service halls and community centers for the service, National Center for Disease Control said. For this, those wanting to sign up can go to respective institutions without a prior appointment or call 2-405-405.

The service is available Monday-Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. The public service halls in Tbilisi and Batumi will provide vaccine booking services on weekends from 10:00 to 17:00 as well.

13:00 GMT+4 — First Patients Admitted at Digomi Field Hospital

Digomi field hospital has yesterday admitted first nine COVID-19 patients, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said, assessing their conditions as “averagely severe.” The hospital will start working today, she added.

The Health Ministry has started arranging field hospitals since August 15 as the country was running out of hospital beds amid surging infection cases. The first two hospitals were set up at the Olympic Village in Digomi and Technical Training Center in Samgori, both in the capital city. Further field hospitals are reportedly planned to be opened in western Imereti and Adjara regions.

Kremlin-backed authorities in Abkhazia reported 119 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of the total confirmed cases in the occupied region to 24,067. With no new recoveries, the overall number of recoveries remains at 19,408. Three new fatalities were reported, increasing recorded COVID-related deaths in the region to 357.

13:00 GMT+4 — Universal Vaccination Centers Open in Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Batumi, and Zugdidi

Universal vaccination centers have opened in Tbilisi, Mtskheta (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), Batumi (Adjara), and Zugdidi (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti), allowing the administration of vaccine shots without prior booking.

The respective centers are open at the following locations in Tbilisi:

• The 1^st building of Tbilisi State Medical University at 33, Vazha Pshavela avenue, open every day from 9:00 to 20:00.
• The 6^th building of the Technical University at 77, Kostava street, open every day from 10:00 to 20:00.
• Georgian National University (SEU) at 19, Tsinandali street, open every day from 10:00 to 18:00.
• Express Medical Service, Hualing Tbilisi Sea Plaza at 22, Jumber Lezhava street, open evey day from 10:00 to 17:30.

Kremlin-backed authorities in Abkhazia reported 162 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the tally of the total confirmed cases in the occupied region to 23,813. In the meantime, 178 more patients have recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 19,385. Five new fatalities were reported, increasing recorded COVID-related deaths in the region to 350.

11:30 GMT+4 — Face Masks Mandatory Outdoors Again

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council, tasked with fighting COVID pandemic in Georgia, announced today that wearing face masks are mandatory outdoors again, effective starting today.

Georgia ended mandatory face mask-wearing outdoors on June 22. Since August 10, however, Georgian authorities brought back the regulation of wearing face masks outdoors in places where five people are gathered.

17:00 GMT+4 – Government Unveils New Restrictions

The Government of Georgia unveiled three-weeks-long plan of restrictions aimed to curb the spread of virus, including the suspension of municipal transport during August 14 – September 4 period. Intercity transport will remain operational, however.

In addition, festivals, concerts, children amusement centers, and sports events (except for planned international sports events) will be banned, while restraurants, bars and other food facilities will have to end working hours at 23:00, instead of finishing at midnight.

14:00 GMT+4 — Some Restrictions Rolled Out

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council, tasked with fighting COVID pandemic in Georgia, announced today about the reintroduction of wearing facemasks outdoors where 5 or more people gather. General outdoor facemask wearing requirement was dropped on June 22.

Also, the Council said venues hosting large social events, including weddings and funeral dinners will be fined with GEL 10,000 (USD 3,250) for the first violation, and will be sealed in case of the repeated breach of the rules.

Out of 2,654 new cases, 1,196 were revealed in Tbilisi, the capital, 443 in coastal Adjara region, 322 in Imereti, 163 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 157 in Kakheti, 111 in Kvemo Kartli, 95 in Shida Kartli, 70 in Guria, 51 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 34 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 12 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

11:00 GMT+4 — 2,654 New Cases, 1,319 More Recoveries, 33 Fatalities

Georgian health authorities revealed 2,654 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of total confirmed cases to 422,188. In the meantime, 1,319 more patients have recovered, bringing the number of overall recoveries to 384,712. The number of fatalities rose by 33 to 5,853.

To date, the number of active cases stands at 31,597, the highest since the country registered its first COVID case in February 2020.

As of July 31, the daily test positivity rate stood at 8.34%, with 7 day and 14 day averages standing at 7.57% and 6.95%, respectively.
