16:00 GMT+4 — Public Service Halls, Community Centers to Book Vaccine Appointments
Persons willing to book vaccine appointments are now able to approach public service halls and community centers for the service, National Center for Disease Control said. For this, those wanting to sign up can go to respective institutions without a prior appointment or call 2-405-405.
The service is available Monday-Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. The public service halls in Tbilisi and Batumi will provide vaccine booking services on weekends from 10:00 to 17:00 as well.
13:00 GMT+4 — First Patients Admitted at Digomi Field Hospital
Digomi field hospital has yesterday admitted first nine COVID-19 patients, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said, assessing their conditions as “averagely severe.” The hospital will start working today, she added.
The Health Ministry has started arranging field hospitals since August 15 as the country was running out of hospital beds amid surging infection cases. The first two hospitals were set up at the Olympic Village in Digomi and Technical Training Center in Samgori, both in the capital city. Further field hospitals are reportedly planned to be opened in western Imereti and Adjara regions.

Universal vaccination centers have opened in Tbilisi, Mtskheta (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), Batumi (Adjara), and Zugdidi (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti), allowing the administration of vaccine shots without prior booking.

11:30 GMT+4 — Face Masks Mandatory Outdoors Again
The Inter-Agency Coordination Council, tasked with fighting COVID pandemic in Georgia, announced today that wearing face masks are mandatory outdoors again, effective starting today.
Georgia ended mandatory face mask-wearing outdoors on June 22. Since August 10, however, Georgian authorities brought back the regulation of wearing face masks outdoors in places where five people are gathered.

The Government of Georgia unveiled three-weeks-long plan of restrictions aimed to curb the spread of virus, including the suspension of municipal transport during August 14 – September 4 period. Intercity transport will remain operational, however.
In addition, festivals, concerts, children amusement centers, and sports events (except for planned international sports events) will be banned, while restraurants, bars and other food facilities will have to end working hours at 23:00, instead of finishing at midnight.

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council, tasked with fighting COVID pandemic in Georgia, announced today about the reintroduction of wearing facemasks outdoors where 5 or more people gather. General outdoor facemask wearing requirement was dropped on June 22.
Also, the Council said venues hosting large social events, including weddings and funeral dinners will be fined with GEL 10,000 (USD 3,250) for the first violation, and will be sealed in case of the repeated breach of the rules.

Out of 2,654 new cases, 1,196 were revealed in Tbilisi, the capital, 443 in coastal Adjara region, 322 in Imereti, 163 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 157 in Kakheti, 111 in Kvemo Kartli, 95 in Shida Kartli, 70 in Guria, 51 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 34 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, 12 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

Georgian health authorities revealed 2,654 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of total confirmed cases to 422,188. In the meantime, 1,319 more patients have recovered, bringing the number of overall recoveries to 384,712. The number of fatalities rose by 33 to 5,853.
To date, the number of active cases stands at 31,597, the highest since the country registered its first COVID case in February 2020.
As of July 31, the daily test positivity rate stood at 8.34%, with 7 day and 14 day averages standing at 7.57% and 6.95%, respectively.
