18:40 GMT+4 — Georgia Imposes Travel Restrictions over Omicron Variant
Amid fears of the spread of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant Georgia has imposed regulations for travelers coming from eight countries – South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi. The citizens of the eight countries, or travelers who visited the places within past two weeks will have to undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arriving in Georgia. Following the isolation, they will have to take a PCR test. The Government will cover the costs of isolation and testing for Georgian citizens, but foreign nationals will have to pay the bills on their own. The regulations come into force on November 28.
