18:40 GMT+4 — Georgia Imposes Travel Restrictions over Omicron Variant

Amid fears of the spread of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant Georgia has imposed regulations for travelers coming from eight countries – South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi. The citizens of the eight countries, or travelers who visited the places within past two weeks will have to undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arriving in Georgia. Following the isolation, they will have to take a PCR test. The Government will cover the costs of isolation and testing for Georgian citizens, but foreign nationals will have to pay the bills on their own. The regulations come into force on November 28.

14:00 GMT+4 — Georgia Eases Curbs Starting December 1

Georgia will allow restaurants, bars and food facilities to operate past 23:00 starting December 1, when the country rolls out its COVID-19 “green pass” system. Also, the authorities said theaters, movie theaters and operas will be allowed to increase attendance from 30% to 50%.

Lithuanian will donate 50,310 Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccines to Georgia. According to the Lithuanian Government the decision was approved following Georgia’s request for assistance, as well as seeking to contribute to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and to eliminate its effects.

Poland donated almost half a million doses of Pfizer Covid 19 vaccines to Georgia. Polish Ambassador Mariusz Maszkiewicz handed the donation to the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
