EU’s Lead Spokesperson for External Affairs, Peter Stano shot back today at the ruling party’s criticism of the outgoing EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell.
“Blaming others for your own unfulfilled ambitions only confirms the need to have more time to understand how the European Union works and that reforms are homework,” Stano underscored, he noted “delivery on reforms and EU agenda is a task for domestic politicians.”
“The EU fully supporters Carl Hartzell who did a great job for EU-Georgia ties,” he stressed.
GD Chairperson Irakli Kobakhidze said yesterday that the Ambassador “unfortunately” “played a strictly negative role in relations between the European Union and Georgia.” Another ruling party member, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee MP Nikoloz Samkharadze claimed the Ambassador “could have done more” for Georgia’s European integration.
