Elections in Adjara Without Observers

Elections of the Parliament and Head of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara are being held today. The only candidate on the post of the Head of the Autonomous Republic is Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara Aslan Abashidze.

Officials of Autonomous region refused to accept observers from Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe to monitor the elections. Representatives of NGO “International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy” were rejected as well.

“The decision of the Central Election Commission of Autonomous Republic of Adjara once again proves that the Adjarian authorities are prone to the totalitarian way of governance”, representatives of “Fair Elections” stated.
