Political Movement’s Office Blown Up in Abkhazia

(Tbilisi. April 21, 2003. Civil Georgia) – An explosion has damaged the office of the public-political movement Amtsakhara in Sokhumi on April 19 causing no casualties.

The Amtsakhara movement, which unites veterans of the 1992-93 war in Abkhazia, is regarded to be one of the most influential forces in this breakaway region.

De fact President of Abkhazia had to dismiss the Prime Minister and entire government on April 8 after the Amtsakhara’s demand.

Authorities of the self-styled Abkhaz Republic say that the explosion of the public-political movement’s office aims at destabilization of the situation in Abkhazia.
