George W. Bush Congratulated Shevardnadze with the Independence Day

(Tbilisi, May 22, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President of the United States of America George W. Bush addressed a letter to his Georgian colleague, in which he congratulated President Shevardnadze with the Independence Day of Georgia (May 26) and thanked for support of the Georgian side during the campaign in Iraq.

“In his letter President Bush expressed hope that Georgia can and will conduct the Parliamentary Elections in democratic way to prove that the country is a leader of democratic development in the region. The United States are ready to assist Georgia” – Kakha Imnadze, press secretary of the Georgian President, told today the journalists.

He said that meeting of the two presidents may take place during the celebration of three centennial anniversary of St. Petersburg.
