Georgia to Deport Chechen

The Georgian Justice Ministry reported that Georgia will deport Vakha Bugiyev, resident of Chechnya, who was recently detained by the Georgian law-enforcement agencies in Pankisi Gorge.

Vakha Bugiyev crossed the Georgian border in 2000 and lived in an Omalo village of the Akhmeta District during a year under a refugee status. His registration expired in 2001. However, as he said, he failed to prolong registration due to illness.

The Ministry of Justice is now preparing the necessary documents for deportation.

The reports said earlier that Georgia has recently deported three Chechens, who infiltrated Georgia this month. However the Georgian State Security, Interior Ministries, as well as Border Guard Department did not confirm this report.
