Ex-President’s Supporter Attacked
Unknown person fired at Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia’s house late on December 2. Sarishvili-Chanturia was a spokesperson for the Shevardnadze’s party For New Georgia.
In a televised interview Sarishvili-Chanturia said that shot allegedly aimed against her life.
The law enforcers said that shot was fired from the opposite apartment of Sarishvili-Chanturia’s home.
Newly appointed Interior Minister Giorgi Baramidze pledged to investigate the case. He also ruled out that the new leadership of the country “is terrorizing the supporters of ex-president.”
“We will do everything to protect security of those people, who are now in the opposition of the current authorities,” Giorgi Baramidze said.
Earlier State Security Ministry warned over anticipated attacks against the politicians, businessmen and chiefs of the media companies “in order to trigger chaos in the country.”
