Solana, Zourabichvili Discuss EU-Georgian Ties

Javier Solana, the European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy met with Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili in Brussels on December 9 and discussed recent developments in EU – Georgia relations.


The EU foreign and security policy chief”s press office reported that Javier Solana and Salome Zourabichvili focused on the EUJUST – THEMIS Rule of Law Mission to Georgia as well as the latest developments in Georgia. The EU launched its first ever “Rule of Law” mission in Georgia on July 16 to help the country in reforming its criminal justice system.

The Situation in the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflict zones were also discussed.


“The positive development with regard to the South Ossetia conflict resolution process was mentioned. Both parties expressed hope that also in Abkhazia progress could be made,” the statement issued by the Solana”s press office reads.
