CEC Adopted Procedure of Votes’ Recounting
(Tbilisi, July 8, Civil Georgia) – Today Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted the procedures of recounting of votes cast in Tbilisi local elections on June 2.
According to the procedure the CEC will census all the documentation concerning the ballot. After the census the votes’ recounting will start.
Representatives of the political, parties participating in the locals, journalists and the nongovernmental organizations will take part in the recounting process.
The CEC took the decision on votes’ recounting after the Tbilisi district court ruled positively on the National Movement party’s appeal. Mikheil Saakashvili’s National Movement demanded to recount the votes because of the numerous procedural violations that occurred during the elections of Tbilisi city council – Sakrebulo.
Only the Socialist party protested against the procedure of votes’ recounting at the meeting of the CEC on July 8.
