Georgia and Russia are Preparing for the 8th Round of Negotiations on the Military Issues

Today in Moscow preliminary consultations of the experts for the 8th round of bilateral negotiations between Georgia and Russia on the military issues are being held. Experts will prepare meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Irakli Menagarishvili and Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Ilia Klebanov that would be held on July 26 or 28.

The experts have to coordinate the issues of Russian base in Gudauta (Abkhazia) for the meeting as well. Official Tbilisi states, that Georgia keeps its position and demands immediate and unconditional liquidation of the base.

Russia did not withdraw its base from Gudauta for July1 2001 and thus violated 1999 OSCE Istanbul Summit agreement.
