U.S. Warplanes in CIS

U.S. warplanes will be deployed in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to stage strikes against Afganistan, U.S. Defence Department Officials told The Washington Post. Deployment of U.S. military detachments in former Soviet countries, where the Russian military bases are still operational, is unprecedented.

Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov indicated, that Russia will not object the decision to deploy U.S. troops in CIS. On the wake of the terrorist attacks, however, Russian officials considered such deployment impossible.
