Georgia on the Edge of War – the MP States
For the first time Georgian official confirmed the information of being Chechen “boeviks” in the part of Abkhazia not controlled by the Georgian government. After the meeting with the power ministers today, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security Gia Baramidze admitted that 400 Chechen guerrillas are in Abkhazia at the moment, but they are not in Kodiri gorge (the only part of Abkhazia controlled by Georgia) as it is reported by the Russian mass media, Baramidze stated.
“Georgia stands on the edge of the large scale war. Russia can use the situation and involve Georgia into Caucasian war. The threat is serious”, Baramidze announced.
Russia permanently accuses Georgia in harboring Chechen terrorists in Pankisi and Kodori gorges. Politicians in Tbilisi think that this disinformation could be a good reason for Moscow to mount military actions in Abkhazia and Pankisi gorge.
