Russia Slams Georgia at PACE

Russian representatives Dmitrii Gorozin and Leonid Slutski at Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly accused Georgian side of supporting international terrorism and harboring Chechen guerrillas. Thus, for the first time Russian allegations were voiced in international forum.

The statement came following Russian discontent over CoE’s reluctance to accept the military engagement in Chechnya (Russian Federation) as an anti-terrorist campaign. Statements of Lord Russel Johnston of CoE to this end generated uproar in Russian media and among politicians this week.
