Armed clashes continue between Abkhazians and combined Georgian-Chechen guerrillas in Kodori gorge, Minister of Defense of self-declared Republic of Abkhazia Vladimir Mikanba stated today. “Guerrillas did not heed our ultimatum regarding leaving the gorge before 10 a.m., October 7.”, Mikanba announced.
Yesterday, after arrival from the USA President Shevardnadze stated that incidents in Abkhazia are the part of a large scale provocation against Georgia.
Tbilisi officials deny presense of any guerrillas on the territory controlled by the Georgian government.
