Georgian-Abkhazian Negotiations Are Postponed
Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations with UN mediation, scheduled for October 9th, were postponed to unknown date. Such statement has been made by the Abkhazian side to the UN Mission in Georgia today. The decision is connected with the worsening situation in Abkhazia.
Georgian Minister of Special Affairs Malkhaz Kakabadze states, that the Georgian side was ready for the negotiations, however it seems that Abkhazians do not wish to renew the peace talks.
Abkhazian sources say that during last few days there were armed clashes between joint Georgian-Chechen fighters and Abkhazian military units in Abkhazia. The Georgian side refuses presence of Chechen guerrillas in the regions of Abkhazia controlled by official Tbilisi.
