Opposition Demands Changes in the Parliament

Parliamentary opposition demands resignation of the members of the Citizen’s Union faction from the posts of parliamentary committee chairmen. The issue was discussed during the meeting of the parliamentary faction leaders on the October 19.

“Socialist” faction leader Vakhtang Rcheulishvili (opposition) stated that the amendments to the Regalement of the Parliament should be introduced. “The existing rules does not correspond with the realities in the Parliament”, Rcheulishvili stated.

“Socialists” faction Chairman declared that “Citizen’s Union” faction consists of 45 members at the moment and is not a majority in the Parliament anymore. Therefore members of the faction should leave the posts of the Chairman of the Committees.

Majority in the parliament has been dissolved last week.
