MFA of Georgia Protests Against Russia Concerning Bombardment
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia regards the bombardment of Marukhi pass in Kodori Gorge, Abkhazia as the violation of sovereignty and independence of Georgia by Russian Federation.
The protest note say that Georgia demanded form Russia explanations regarding the numerous facts of violation of Georgian airspace by the Russian warplanes and bombing of Georgian territories. In response Russia again bombs the territory in Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian government.
On October 28 6 helicopters MI – 24 and 4 jets SU-25 “Frogfoot” flied from Sukhumi, capital of breakaway unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia this morning at 4:15 a.m., bombing the unpopulated areas of Marukhi pass. There are no casualties.
Abkhazians do not have 4 SU-25 therefore it is likely that the Russian jets bombed Marukhi pass, spokeswoman of the Defense Ministry Nino Sturua announced.
