Shevardnadze is Accused of Mounting Pressure on Mass Media

Founder of the TV company “Rustavi 2” Erosi Kitsmarishvili accuses President Shevardnadze of mounting pressure on the independent TV company. Several MPs participating in the meeting in front of the “Rustavi 2” office also announced that the President is responsible for launching pressure on mass media.

“We shall stay in Georgia, Shevardnadze must leave the country”, reformers wing representative MP Koba Davitashvili announced on the meeting.

“Citizen’s Union” faction member and the Chairman of the Human Rights Parliamentary Committee Elene Tevdoradze blamed Shevardnadze for encouraging Internal Affairs and Security Ministries for an illegal actions against the mass media.    

Approximately 200 people are gathered in front of the “Rustavi 2” office for the moment.
