President Demands Investigation of Security Ministries Actions Against Rustavi 2

President Shevardnadze demands from the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate the actions of Security Ministry against the independent broadcasting company Rustavi 2 on October 30.

The management of Rustavi 2 is indifferent regarding the President’s verdict. The company expressed mistrust towards the Georgian law enforcement agencies. The company officials state the Prosecutor’s office takes part in lawlessness and has no credibility to make conclusions on the issue  

About 30 officers of the Georgian State Security Ministry marched into independent TV company Rustavi-2 and insisted on inspecting all the financial documents of the company. The court sanctioned their demand.

The company management accuses the the President in mounted pressure against mass media.
