Parliament Asks for Special Session

(Tbilisi. November 26. Civil Georgia) – The Parliament asks President Shevardnadze to convene special session of the Parliament to continue discussions over the ministerial candidates. Plenary session is not supposed to take place this week so the Presidential approval is needed to hold one.

Legislators already discussed 7 candidates on the ministers’ post last week. Only one candidate was disapproved (Nino Chkhobadze on the Environment and Protection of Natural Resources minister’s post).

It is anticipated that candidate on the Finance Minister’s post Zurab Nogaideli (the ex-Finance Minister) will have the most serious problems to attain the Parliament’s approval.
