State Security Minister: Investigation of Mass Protests in November is Inappropriate
(Tbilisi. December 4. Civil Georgia) – State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania stated today that the investigation of reasons of mass protests in November will be inappropriate.
“Students defended freedom of speech and it is unreasonable to investigate who organized and encouraged them to protest”, Khaburdzania stated.
The part of the MPs demanded investigation of reasons of meeting in front of the Parliament building in early November. Some of the Parliamentarians believe that Mikheil Saakashvili and reformers’ team organized the students’ protest.
The State Security Ministry’s raid on independent TV station caused the street protests. President Shevardnadze fired entire government on November 1, as the result of the meeting in front of the Parliament.
