Russian Duma Committee Chairman on CIS Affairs Visits Georgia

(Tbilisi. December 20. Civil Georgia) – Russian delegation led by the Duma Council Committee Chairman on Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs arrives in Tbilisi today.

On December 21 Russian delegation is to hold negotiations with Georgian governmental commission led by Foreign Affairs Minister Irakli Menagarishvili on the draft of the framework agreement between Georgia and Russia.

Negotiations were to start in November but were postponed because of the governmental crisis in Georgia.

Presidents of Georgia and the Russian Federation signed a framework agreement about friendship, peaceful relationship and cooperation on November 3, 1994. Georgian Parliament ratified the document but Russian Duma Council refused to ratify it somehow.

Now Georgia suggests Russia to prepare a new framework agreement.
