(Tbilisi. January 3. Civil Georgia) – Georgian Energy Minister Davit Mirtskhulava stated on January 3 that the power line used for supplying electricity from Russia to Georgia would be restored by the evening.
High-voltage power line Kavkasioni was damaged on January 2. Reasons of the damage are unknown yet. As a result of the accident electricity supply to Georgian capital Tbilisi declined drastically.
Davit Mirtskhulava stated that six groups of Georgian experts work to repair the damaged power line.
Georgian power capability is largely dependent on the imported electricity from Russia and Armenia at the moment, as two power generating units were damaged in explosion at “AES-Mtkvari” power plant owned by the American company AES on December 22.
